Hi, good evening. Newbie po. If not much of a trouble, I would like to seek your advise. Im the PA, my school is listed, my work is listed aswell, yet a bit short in points. would you recommend that I have my wife take IELTS already ? She works at a hospital po here sa PH, and honestly most of their comms are done in tagalog, though there are times that they do communicate in english, like conversing sa mga ibang doctors and patient. Or is there any alternative or means na masuffice ni wife yung english requirements. Did a back read, didnt see any post similar to my scenario. Hoping for your feedback. Thanks in advance.

mikol IELTS on its own will not give any additional points. It is your wife's qualification which will give 10 or 20 points. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Ma'am / Sirs good evening. Bebang po. Nabasa ko yung above comment. Me and my hubby are also planning to apply for Nz. To migrate. I would be the PA. Just want to verify kung need pa ng husband ko to take another IELTS given na he just took IELTS and passed not more than 5 months ago. Just curious kasi if a need arises na the officer would require more proof of english competency, pwede na ba yung IELTS nya taken 4 1/2 months ago? Salamat po.

bebang -- just one question, is the IELTS result still valid? If it is, then you can submit it when case officer asks for it, otherwise he needs to pass another IELTS but only when required. Ano ni Moose

I think IELTS validity is 2 years or is it 3 years. Can anyone confirm sa mga nagIELTS?

Thanks for replying. Sir Ano ni Moose and Mam ModM. And as far as I know its valid for 2 years. The reason i have asked it is because my husband also works in a hospital here in the PH, buts its a government hospital. We all know naman na very seldom they communicate in english. Are there any other means or proof he can seek from the hospital that will support his claim for English proficiency?
Though my husband did work abroad, Riyadh Saudi to be exact, also in a hospital, but that was almost 10 years ago. I dont know if that work experience he had in a Saudi hospital will be enough as proof. His current work here does not involve chats, email correspondence that we can use as proof of english proficiency.
Thanks again po.

Hello. Nagbackread na ako pero parang still can't find the answer sa tanong ko. Just need more feedback on my question below kaya post ko lang ulit dito. I think this is the correct thread. Sa mga partner na hindi nag-IELTS and magssubmit lang ng supporting documents like 'certificate of medium of instruction is English' from University, which of these two options did you choose sa Section H sa EOI: Option A- Study for a recognised qualification conducted entirely in English Option B- Completed qualifications that meet the minimum standard, as defined in the guide Option C- Otherwise meets the minimum standard, as defined in the guide Parang may nabasa kasi ako dati na they've chosen Option A "conducted entirely in English..", pero kasi when I got my certificate from our University nakalagay 'English is generally used...' whereas sa Option A ang sabi dapat conducted entirely in English. By the way my school is exempted pala. Hope maka-share ng experience yung iba. Thank you in advance.

curlytops yes that's okay. Mine states the same "generally use English as the medium of instruction". They accepted it as proof. Thanks!

Hi aspiringkiwi thanks sa reply. So it means i should tick the option sa EOI form na "..conducted entirely in English"?

That's what I did curlytops and it worked so my personal reco is to tick A. But no harm in checking others experience as well just to be sure😀 Not sure how consistent they are when assessing docs. Thanks!

Hello everyone! My hubby and I are in the process of gathering requirements for ITA. Kailangan pa po ba kumuha ng certificate sa HS na yung medium of instruction is in English? Sabi kasi ng brother in law ko kumuha na rin kami just to be sure. Pero kasi medyo hassle bumalik sa province para lang dun kung di naman pala talaga kailangan. I just want to know po kung may kumuha pa ba nun. Thank you in advance!☺

Here's the latest update on this topic as of October 11, 2016: From 21 November 2016, Immigration New Zealand will accept a wider range of English language tests. The new tests that INZ will accept are: Test of English as a Foreign Language Internet Based Test (TOEFL iBT) Occupational English Test (OET) Cambridge English: First (FCE) and FCE for Schools Pearson Test of English: Academic (PTE: Academic) People who are invited to apply from 12 October onwards will not be able to use the same alternative evidence of English language in place of a test as previously. The evidence that can be accepted in place of a test will be limited to: a) Citizenship of Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States of America provided the applicant has spent at least five years in work or education in one or more of those countries or Australia or New Zealand; or b) A recognised qualification comparable to a New Zealand level 7 bachelor’s degree and gained in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States of America as a result of study undertaken for at least two academic years in one or more of those countries; or c) A recognised qualification comparable to a New Zealand qualification at level 8 or above and gained in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom or the United States of America as a result of study undertaken for at least one academic year in one or more of those countries. People invited to apply before 12 October will not be affected and may still use the alternatives previously in place. They only need to provide what Immigration New Zealand has already requested on the invitation to apply. hello all. I am new in this forum. Ive read the new requirements re: English proficiency. Would you advice me to take the IELTS instead of TOEFL? I am based in Manila now and I know that they prefer IELTS but I have an experience taking the TOEFL in 2004 for my grad school abroad, which they are now accepting. Me and my wife are keen to immigrate to NZ. I plan to be the primary applicant. Should she also get English proficiency exams? Thanks in advance. Cheers!

ethaneman they won't care which English test you took as long as you get the required score. I think it would benefit you to take the TOEFL again just because you're already familiar with the exam. Otherwise do your research on why the IELTS or other English testing may be or may not be better than the TOEFL. She needs to take an English proficiency exam as well since they're requiring it even for dependents now.
