I had tb history 10 plus years ago, my xray is negative so the doctor cleared me and then i lodge my application. So sad my CO asked me to undergo sputum culture test which will take 8 weeks then after daw ipapadala nya pa sa nz medical assesor for 5 to 6 wks...i feel so sad talaga...

Hi sm, my partner has the same condition like you. What we did is instead of the sputum culture, we did the MTB PCR DNA test, 1 day lang makukuha mo na medyo may kamahalan lang. And btw, as per IO since nagpasa kame nun at wala pang update in case di tatanggapin un at ipipilit nila ung sputum test bibigyan daw kame ng bagong deadline.

not sure if it will help pero I might as well mention. My parents applied po for immigrant visa sa US, tapos yun, pina sputum culture test sya, so hinold muna yung application. Nag go lang nung lumbas yung result ng sputum test. So ngayon, nasa US na sila.

sm if I remember it correctly almost 8k ung MTB PCR sa St. Luke's. Ung sputum culture test 1k plus ata, if series of 3 - 3k+ since per kuha ng specimen 1k+ at 3 consecutives days un. Until now wala pa din update sa amin ung Medical Assessor nageexpect ako this week or next week, kasi as per sa iba 3-4weeks turnaround time from Medical Assessor. Kaya before opting to do the MTB PCR test consult your IO muna kasi mahal na nga ang tagal pa ng turnaround time. P.S ung sputum culture series of 3 AFB ( 2 klase ung sa st. luke's 1 for bacterial culture and 1 for TB culture) make sure lang na specify na TB culture need mo.

We have received an email from our IO last Monday, asking us to still take the sputum test. Eto ung sinabi: "I have been advised today from our Medical Assessor that it is still required to provide tests of Sputum culture for AFB(series of three). The reason for the report is this application is for residency and to exclude active TB, sputum cultures for AFB analysed after 6 weeks of incubation are required." Tapos gusto nila ipadala via courier ung result. Bale almot 9k pesos ung inabot ng exam since 3 culture ang nirerequire nila. Tinanong ko din kung ano impact nito sa pagaallocate ng CO sa application namin, eto sabi nya: "I am afraid the medical reports must be original, which is dated, signed and stamped by the panel doctor and please courier the physical file to our office. I can assure you that the further medical assessment won’t cause a delay in allocation, however it may cause a prolonged assessment." #staypositive #matataposdinito #itsjustaphase

Oh no. So hindi pa rin nila tinanggap yung MTB PCR. Sayang naman yun sis. Pano yan? Nakapag-culture na ba kayo? Di ba 8 weeks bago lumabas ang result nun?

treeofdreams I think you will still be allocated a CO in the usual process but her/his own assessment of your case will have some delays as they wait for the medical results to come in. Naku in short pala talagang mas maigi na magtyaga sa sputum test na mas matagal man pero yun prefer nila. Maganda lang nun sis alam nyo na ano magiging result and he will be cleared eventually. Konting tiis na lang. Yung dagdag na gastos is worth it naman kapag andito na kayo at nakakuha na residency. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Let us remain hopeful and positive na after the storm there's a rainbow .... I will get my sputum result on the 2nd week of sept. .. Work visa nga po pala inaplayan ko under partnership. My CO asked me to do this 8wks sputum culture test tapos pag may result na, he will send to the medical assesor in nz na mga 5 to 6 wks pa ang process. #hopefultoGod #Lordtheskystillblueformyhopeisinyou

Tapos ipapacourier namin ung results. Yup nasayang lang ung MTB PCR, pero eventually magagamit din naman nya un as reference in the future since forever na ung scar nya. sm, nung nagsubmit ako ng MTB PCR finorward nila un sa NZ Medical Assessor tapos 1month before sila sumagot ulit.

Eto nakasulat: "Fibrotic infiltrates, right upper lobe" at "Impression: Pulmonary scar, right upper lobe."

Also, I emailed nz immigration (yung sa nz mismo). Sinabi ko na may tb history ako. Ang reply sa akin:
"You should provide an X-Ray certificate as well as a report from your doctor outlining your history of TB - when it was contracted, that you were medicated for it, it has healed and the current state of health.
This will be helpful for an Immigration Officer when they assess your application and may save time in the process."
I wonder if pag may ganito wala na sputum test?

Thank you aBiSh @admin ModM and others, after a few hours ako nagpaxray, sabi I need to do sputum smear and culture test. 3 days consecutive. No breakfast. (kaka-email ko lang sa st.lukes about this but I'll appreciate your input too based on your experience.) Yung isang 3 dun, maybe 3 days? What does the other 3 stand for if yun na yun? Thank you!!

Haha.. Hula ko lang. I searched on it pero mukhang sa NZ immigration lang ginagamit yung term na yan.

Update: Day 3 na ng sputum test ko this morning. Hooray! Medyo mabilis na ko this time.
Pwede na sana i-add to sa resume: Experienced in forcefully coughing and producing phlegm.
Tip lang sa mag-sputum test, sundin nyo na lang yung tips na nakasulat sa wall ng st.lukes (It's really helpful and it works!). Hinga nang malalim, stop for 3 seconds, exhale through mouth, etc.
Pero since e-medical na ngayon, wala na need ipasa through courier, right?
