Let me start this new thread for the benefit of everyone.

Objective:
- To see everyone's nominated field
- Be able to share experience or notes to anyone with similar field
- Understand the requirements
- Be notified with any updates based on Long Term Skill Shortage List (LTSSL)

Required Infos:
1. Occupation and Occupation Code
2. Requirements (Column 3 & 4 of LTSSL)
3. Did you meet the minimum requirements, Yes/No. Pls provide any comments or remarks.

Hope everyone will share so that we can easily address some nominated occupation/field issues that some members are facing right now. So the ultimate goal other than above mentioned is to be able to educate or help all members by directing them to the right person/member with similar field who can better assist them.

ICT Systems Test Engineer (263213)

Requirements: Bachelor degree (Level 7)specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND a minimum of three years’ relevant postqualification work experience.

Did you meet the requirement? Yes

Remarks: Honestly, medyo tricky ito since we can choose between Analyst Programmer(261311) and Developer Programmer(261312).But since mas fit sa experienced namin yung DP, we opt to choose that. Systems Administrator (262113)

Requirements: Bachelor degree (Level 7)specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND a minimum of three years’ relevant postqualification work experience.

Remarks: Medyo nalito din ako dito; I'am not sure if I amended it, but ang initial nakalagay sa ITA ko is Computer Network and Systems Engineer (263111); But naalala ko nireview ko yung Description compare sa mga Job Desc Experience ko, hindi papasok. Engineer (233311), Electronics

Requirements: A Washington Accord accredited engineering degree OR Either a qualification comparable to a:
Bachelor of Engineering, or Bachelor of Engineering (with Honours), or Master of Engineering degree OR
A qualification at Level 7 or higher with a letter from IPENZ certifying that the degree and any further learning meets the academic requirements for registration as a ‘Chartered Professional Engineer’ in New Zealand OR NZ registration as a ‘Chartered Professional Engineer'

Did you meet the requirement? Yes and No

Remarks: I initially thought that it would be easier to meet the requirements this time for Engineers after Dec 5, 2011 (change date ng requirements for Engineers (dati wala ung IPENZ letter)) but I was wrong. at hindi din pala comparable sa Bachelor of Engineering ang Engineering courses natin despite being in the exempted list (MIT). I did try to have my qualification assessed by NZQA with the hope na comparable sa Bachelor of Engineering ito but in the end binigay sa kin ay pang IT (level 7 degree in Computer Science and Information Technology) since Computer Engineering ang course ko. lalong lumayo sa Engineering course. why I chose Electronics Engineer kasi after graduation, sa semiconductor manufacturing na ang field ko at pasok naman ung job scopes ko sa job scopes ng Electronics Engineer kaya mejo nakakakaba ung application namin nun. so for the requirements, ung level 7 lang ang nasatisfy ko but not the IPENZ letter which is impossible to have given its strict requirements. luckily, madami naman considerations para sa min perhaps nagcount din ung extensive work experience ko in the electronics industry. links for Electronics Engineers: www.careers.govt.nz/jobs/engineering/electronics-engineer/ ; www.immi.gov.au/asri/occupations/e/electronics-engineer.htm

ICT Software Tester (261314)

Requirements: Bachelor degree (Level 7)specialising in Information Technology (Computer Science, Information Systems or other Information Technology) OR Bachelor degree (Level 7) specialising in Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technology AND a minimum of three years’ relevant postqualification work experience.

Remarks: I was actually choosing between Software Engineer, Systems Test Engineer and Software Tester. I chose Software Tester as my job description is comparable to it.

Analyst Programmer (261311)

Remarks: Developer programmer talaga dapat pero dahil karamihan ng ginagawa ko ay hindi coding kundi puro analysis, database management, at coding, Analyst Programmer ang pinili ko. Hindi naman nagreklamo si CO dahil mukhang na-satisfy naman yung description. Either that o baka naman hindi rin nila alam ang pagkakaiba. Haha.. O kaya, wala na silang pakialam dahil nagta-trabaho na naman ako rito nun. O baka mababait lang talaga lahat ng mga CO for SMC na nandito sa NZ.

Remarks: I had one previous position na systems ad talaga but the rest are more on technical support engineer. I provided them my COEs na may pagka sysad ang job description ng bawat isa. Also, meron ako assessment certificate from Australian Computer Society na Sys Ad yung anzcode ko.

Remarks:

Yes because we stand with the our hope and belief that our Engineering is comparable with NZ's as long as the extensive work experience matches your qualification. My hubby chose Mechanical Engineer since it's his line of job for the past 9 years. It's not hubby's job title either but his job funtcion matches that of an ME.

No because hubby did not have his qualification assesed by NZQA since he's included in the LQEA (BSME from UST). He did not satisfy letter from IPENZ neither since we have read threads here that it's impossible to have one.

On our ITA, we were not required to take the NZQA. To date, we were asked for additional docs but not on my hubby's qualification so still continuously hoping and praying na maging favorable ung huling amendment sa LTSSL sa mga Engineers natin.
