Hi everyone, I figured that I'd start a new thread for 2020. Even though many students have had their plans derailed by COVID and NZ's border closure, not all is lost. One of the interesting turn of events is that some NZ education providers now have options for blended learning available to overseas students. This means that you could start your course online then complete it in NZ. Your life doesn't stay on hold, fees are cheaper, and (in some cases) post-study work visa eligibility is maintained. I'll be talking about postgrad study in NZ in a facebook live session. Hope to see you and your friends there! Hi everyone, I plan to study in NZ and inquired in one of the Uni in Auckland. They recommended me to apply so they can further assess my credentials. Then next is an admission officer will call for an interview. Can I know what questions usually are asked during this stage? Thanks in advance.

Hi, everyone. I'm an incoming international PhD student po and currently in South Korea. For those affiliated po in INZ (kung meron man or meron po kayo insider there), are there any news po when will the borders open/when will they process visas for another batch of PhD/Master's students?
I'm wondering if waiting in the Philippines will make it harder for me to enter NZ po kasi. Need ko po kasi umuwi sa pinas 2 or 3 months from now..

Hi Puntastic Wanderer, last update INZ gave us through an LIA webinar was that it was only the post-grad students who already held visas for 2020 that were going to be granted those travel exemptions as part of the first batch of students. PhD students were given top priority in that cohort. It involves a nomination process so di siya automatic. Wala pang bagong updates samin sa travel exemptions for students. Do you already hold a student visa? Kung hindi, sakop ka pa rin nung suspension on offshore visa applications which has been extended to May 2021.

Puntastic Wanderer why aren’t you sure yet if you need to leave SoKor? Wala pa namang news if restricted or controlled yung travel from Philippines to NZ... if ever man, if magkaroon yung Philippines nung new variant of covid, and uncontrollable... direct flights may be limited and it’ll be harder for you to travel to NZ

If I withdraw from here, I need to leave SoKor within 30days that will push me to go back to Ph while waiting for my NZ visa po. ' My situation is a bit messy kasi I'm enrolled in SoKor and Is planning to transfer to an NZ uni po.

Puntastic Wanderer out of curiousity, why do they need proof that you're not currently enrolled in SoKor? The current nominations are limited to people who had already started their PhD programmes so you're unlikely to qualify until INZ sets new criteria. For now, you're in the same boat as other offshore students I'm afraid.

I think it has something to do with intellectual properties of the universities in case we have interesting discoveries.. I do hope nga na mapakiusapan sila to nominate me (even if I havent submitted the withdrawal form) once INZ has a go signal ulit magpapasok ng students. Para di ko na need umuwi pinas muna to reduce transportations costs.
