I prepared roughly 1.4M for my student visa application. Almost 500k ang tuition then the rest is proof of funds. The higher the amount for your proof, the less chance na ma FTS ka. ?

If Auckland kayo, mataas ang cost of living. Tapos allowed to work ka for 20 hours per week. If Auckland ka, the cost of s shared room will be between 100 to 120 nzd per week per person including electricity, water, and internet. Consider mo pa ang cost of transportation and food. Honestly if you loaned the money to come to nz, mahirap bawiin lalalo na while studying pa kasi 20hrs per week lang ang work. Tapos pag naka job search visa ka na, you can work full time. Pero if you are looking to become a New Zealand Resident, check if your course is on the list of LTSSL so you can apply for residency. Marami din kasing students dito na umuwi na after ma expire yung visa nila kasi mahirap para sa mga employers mag sponsor ng work visa if hindi kasama sa LTSSL ang course mo. Please do your own research bago mag decide. Don't rely sa mga sinasabi ng ibang tao. It could be half truth. Protect yourself so do your own research.

Hello guys!
I have decided to post a topic here, new member po ako dito at basa sa mga interesting topics. anyway, I plan to study in CHCH and nasa kalagitnaan na ko ng process in obtaining a student visa. My question is, possible ba na ma suportahan mo ang sarili mong tuition fee while working sa NZ? I plan on applying sa Ara Institute, and ang concern ko talaga is kung kaya ba talaga makabayad ng tuition while you work and study.
sana po may makasagot salamat po!

jillisraju08 20 hours alam ko allowed ka mag work most jobs are minimum based salary. If you include accommodation + basic needs + your tuition then i think hindi kakayanin. Lets wait for the Student visa holders to answer you more in detail.

Then i suggest you ask your school na pasukan mo if puwede sa kanila staggered payment. I compute mo na lang basic salary X 20hours = (Total). Then ask mo sa school mo if pwede mo ibayad weekly or fortnightly .

Hi, It would be better for you communicate with your school and explain them your situation. If is an annual payment then most probably yun ang policy ng schools dito. I think pinayagan ang isa student na makapag work e for them to gain experience and the pay they earn is for their allowance and school needs.

Oo grabe pinaka-mura na na tuition yan for 1 year of study. Normal tuition kapag PTE ay $18k to $21k. Kung proper university abot ng $30K for 1 year for international students.

Pwede ko nmn daw kuhanin. Saka sila lang kasi pinakamababang offer din for international Student sa ngayon. Wala pa ko consultancy, kaya balak ko rin sa Fortrust kasi libre nmn daw lahat.

I attended before a forum na may Pinay na dean yata or director sa AIS. Ang alam ko pwede dumiretso mag apply sa AIS. No need for an education agent. You can ask for a discount and they'll give you. I think lalabas na cheaper than getting an agent kasi yung agent kasi may commission minsan from school aside pa from bayad niyo sa kanila.

bryantal ako po nagsearch ng school ko, though may mga i-su-suggest din sayo yung educ counselor. In my case, nagsearch ako ng school na maganda yung feedback based on forums and "top schools" list sa google, then yung affordability. ModM sis, tnry ko din magdirect sa top 3 schools na preferred ko through website enquiry to see if may difference sa pricing, 2 of the schools don't offer discounts, while one has discount but still $3k+ higher than the offer through educ counselor. Based 'to sa 3 schools na choices ko. Not sure if dahil email enquiry lang ginawa ko.

Didn't realise there was this new thread (usually I just check my bookmarks and notifications!)
On fees, actually di pa lowest yung tuition fee na yun for 1 year. There's a reputable PTE with offers that go down to around $12k + resource and material fees.
PTEs generally won't cost as much. Below $17k generally. Yung $18k-22k ITPs. Uni yung mga $25k upward.
Medyo weird yung situation na may discount if you apply directly. Most education providers won't do that because they don't want to under cut their agents. Agents are some of their best marketing tools.
As a direct counterargument, using an agent can make things cheaper for you. Minsan kasi may special offers ang schools (lalo na PTEs) which they do not publish online. For example, pwedeng discount based on good scores sa IELTS or fee discounts to promote a new campus (para piliin nila yun over the Auckland campus).
Apart from identifying good deals for you, you also save on small stuff. For example, you might not have to courier original docs to NZ when you use an agent. That's about P1,200 right there.
Syempre different agents (including licensed advisers) have different business models so it's not always cheaper to get professional help. As for me though, I have a zero fees policy when it comes to students interested in my partner schools. In those cases, applicants I represent only pay for direct costs (eg visas, courier fees, logistics fees, medicals, etc).

koru_ph some of the schools do give discounts. I think dito ko pa nga nabasa yun or maybe dun sa isang facebook group for students. Tsaka yun din sabi ng kiwi friend ko. May mga schools dito na may mga pinoy staff who would suggest that kasi even if they give a discount, lower pa din yun sa commission ng agent. My Kiwi friend used to work for a PTE for 15 years. His job was to attract international students from Korea, China and Japan nga lang. He traveled to these countries often and liased with education agents. They didn't go for students from India and Philippines kasi ayaw nila babaan ng todo tuition nila and compromise the quality. He also shared with me and I posted it here over a year ago his insights on the system. Some schools even give as much as 20-30% commission to education agents leaving very little to the delivery of quality education. He himself also said to approach the school directly if you can. The quality of some of the schools here na mura, nagcomment na rin ibang PK members na students. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

koru_ph I am with you that having an education agents has its benefits but one can also do without. Sometimes applicants rely too much on their education agents, some of whom have never been to NZ and promise them the moon and the stars. The key thing is for students to research first and try as many options as possible before making decisions especially yung iba na inuutang pa yung pambayad sa tuition. Marami na umuwi at umiyak na students, some one month, yung isa alam ko 5 days. Yung 5 days one dahil pinromise sa kanya ng school and agent ang 2 weeks accommodation pero pagdating dito wala available and she was put in a backpackers place. She got so culture shocked. Yun pa pala, for students who are enticed with hefty discounts and freebies like accommodation and even laptops, sim etc think hard rin kasi hindi yun free... kasama yun sa bayad niyo. Which means the more of non education related stuff you get the lesser money there is in the pot for quality education. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

ModM yup - for sure, using an agent isn't for everyone. I've always seen agents/advisers similar to accountants. You're dealing with a field that's very technical and dynamic. You may or may not choose to get professional help and that's a call that each individual makes. Personally, I like students who have done their research - it makes my life easier. Haha. Promoting international education is a complex business. On one hand, you do have some agents that misrepresent the reality of studying abroad. On the other, you have students that are starry eyed in spite of disclaimers and warnings. Interesting to know about the discounts. Commissions do exist, but I tend not think of it as a zero sum game. Money paid out in commissions would not necessarily have been savings on the part of the school (subsequently reinvested in improving quality). They could just be re-directed to direct marketing costs. Pero syempre, even schools have different marketing strategies so there could be a number of different outcomes.
