Hi everyone!

I'm in the process of choosing a school, considering several factors like:
1) Quality of education
2) School expenses (tuition, etc)
3) Location
4) Cost of living in the area
5) Availability of jobs in the area

I hope those who have finished their studies or those currently studying can contribute some inputs based on their experience or familiarity with the school, so that others like myself who are still in the process of surveying, would be able to come to an informed decision. (Alam ko subjective ito, pero any inputs could help us sa pag-evaluate, lalo na't napakamahal pa naman mag-aral, big investment & life changing talaga kaya mahirap magkamali).

Salamat po sa lahat ng makakatulong sa pag-share ng experience or nalalaman nila... pagpalain po kayo!

If you value quality education and tuition fee, please don't apply in NTEC as a Software Development IT student.
They don't teach well. Here's why:

1. Most lecturers just read the presentation
2. If you ask questions, they will usually answer, "Just google it" or "I will get back to you" (but it never happens)
3. Bad pronunciation (I don't know why they don't hire professionals)
4. Wrong explanation (Again, number 3)
5. No Job Placement (False advertising)

This is based on my experience. Dito ko na appreciate ang Philippine Education. Believe me, kahit public school ng Pinas mas maayos magturo. Di ko lang alam sa ibang course pero sa course ko, malabong may matutunan ka. Parang nagbayad ka ng pagkamahal mahal to self study everything.

Ang maganda sa NTEC may accommodation for 2 weeks to look for a long term place and work... and also a time to familiarize the place.

hello everyone,im newbie here. I am grateful for this website, thanks much admin at sa mga taong nagpopost ng mga information. Plano ko din pong mag apply ng student visa.

Sabi po ng agency ko, I could study Business course level 7 sa:
1. EDENC - meron po bang naka try ng school nato? Mura lang daw po ang tuition fee nila.
2. NTEC - @ dinoette, thanks po sa feedback. Di pla sila quality education.
3. Cornell - Mukhang mas ok? Seems marami na po ang student dito.

40k din po ang bayad sa agency. Sila naman po ang tutulong para maayos ang student visa ko at mag eenroll.
I think mas ok po eto para less ang headache kesa mag apply on your own??

Which agency and nag charge ng 40K magprocess ng student visa? Di kaya scam yan. Dapat free ang processing ng student visa. Kasi may commission na sila from the school pag nag enroll. ka.

Cornell's Marketing manager is a Filipino, he has a lot of friends from  education recruitment agencies in the Philippines kaya marami na na eencourage mag-aral dun. He also knows how to sweet talk the prospective students. Pero in reality, sobrang dami nang Filipino nag-aaral dun. So walang professional and personal growth na mangyayari sa iyo pag dating mo dito sa New Zealand kasi surrounded ka ng mga Pinoy din. 

I study at AIS - St Helens. Although mas malayo siya sa City, I appreciate the way they teach. Most of the students here a foreigners so you get a different perspective on different issues. What I appreciate is medyo liberal sila sa pag bigay ng subjects. They allow you to choose subjects that you think na makakatulong sa career mo.

Thank you for this very important feedback dinoette. This is something I really wanted to hear from students like you para malaman ng mga maghahanap pa lang ng schools.

I think yung ibang schools na katulad ng NTEC parang tied sa mga agencies para lang makakuha ng student visa. Hindi yata talaga nila goal yung makapagturo kundi makapagbigay lang ng stepping stone para makapasok sa NZ. Others would describe it as "formality" lang. Para sa akin aksaya ng pera yung ganun.

Maganda sana kung makahanap kayo ng schools na totoong marami kayong matututunan at magagamit sa pagta-trabaho ninyo. Maganda at naiipon natin ang mga feedback na ganito.

dinoette I assure you hindi ganyan ang pagtuturo sa "proper" universities dito sa New Zealand.

Naku, pahirapan yan maghanap ng trabaho.
May exams pa naman sa NZ companies if you are applying for a software development job.
The companies can and will prove your competence.

dinoette warren888 - Thank you so much sa inyong feedback. Napakalaking bagay na kayong mga nauna na sa NZ at dumaan na sa pag-aaral or currently enrolled ay makapag-warn at makapagbigay guidance sa aming about to take the student path pa lang. Malaking investment kse ito towards our future. Sad to hear about NTEC, marami pa naman akong nabasa sa kabilang thread na interested sa school na yan.

aBiSh @admin - As I read through all the posts kse ng "Student visa as entry", I observed na napakaraming nagtatanong at humihingi din ng feedback dun sa thread about schools, and having to go through each one of the posts to look for answers is quite daunting (mahaba haba na po kse yung kabilang thread and covers general topics about student visa), kaya naisip ko po na magandang mai-consolidate dito sa thread na ito yung all about feedback sa schools lang for easy look-up and first-hand advice.

zia Generally "bago" pa lang yung Student Visa as Entry na thread. Haha.. Last year lang talagang dumagsa yung mga student visa holders and prospects at naging active talaga sa forum natin kaya grateful ako sa kanila/sa inyo.

Kung mapapansin ninyo konti pa lang yung totoong nagshe-share ng experiences nila on a student path kasi napakahirap at magastos ang path na ito. Medyo one to three years hinihintay bago makahanap ng stable job at makapursue ng residency. Minsan kapag in the middle of job hunting tayo or wala pa talagang "success story" we opt not to share what's happening kaya naiintindihan ko sila.

Try kong i-compile yung helpful info sa kabilang thread when I have time. Kung ikaw rin may time you can help tapos lagay ko sa first page para madaling makita nung iba.

Sana yung iba pa nating students ngayon makapagbigay ng feedback katulad nina dinoette at warren888.

aBiSh @admin - nakakatuwa nga po sobra na may forum na ganito... thank you for all the help you've extended sa aming lahat na chasing the NZ dream, napakalaking bagay yung bayanihan dito, malaking tulong po talaga. may the Lord reward you for your work and generosity! sana talaga ma-meet ko po kau "live! in person" sa NZ (hehe... celebrity status na kau ms. abish). cge po kapag po may extra time, i-try ko din pong makatulong in collating and consolidating yung mga naunang feedback na naibigay sa kabilang thread. suggestion ko po siguro, makagawa din tayo ng list ng student forum members na nag-aral or currently nag-aaral sa mga schools sa NZ, parang alumni directory... naka-group, para madali din po silang mai-pm kung may specific questions about their school or call na rin for gathering (reunion kaagad?)... kung saka-sakaling maging ka-schoolmate.

Most private run tertiary schools hindi accredited ng Professional association bodies in NZ at Australia.

Kaya maganda talaga pag aralan mabuti ang pipiliin school.

Palagay ko po marami pong nghahanap ng medyo mura ang tuition fee pero as much as possible quality pa din ang turo.

btw, para sa mga accountants na planong magpa-register sa NZ, may nakita po akong list ng accredited tertiary schools na dapat nyong pasukasan kung may balak kayong mag-practice as chartered accountant sa NZ. (fyi, di po ako accountant, just stumbled on this list). i'm sure may mga iba pang ibang  professional groups (IPENZ-engineers, IITP-IT professionals, etc.) na may ganitong list sa site nila, so research nyo na lang po ang akma sa inyo.

Although 2 days pa lang kami naglelecture, GANYAN NA GANYAN ang observation ko sa classes namin. Ang daming nasasayang na oras. Sabi ko sa sarili ko baka naman it'll get better in time, pero ganun pala talaga in the long run ayon sa feedback mo. Tinanong ko pa yung tutor namin towards the end of the class tungkol sa background niya, former student lang din pala sya last year sa NTEC. Na siya namang ikinadismaya ko since ine-expect ko professional ang magtuturo samin. Para naman kaming naglolokohan neto! Di biro ang tuition fee ha.

Binabalak ko lumipat na lang ng Networks specialisation since magiging mas madali na yun sakin kahit na barubalin pa ang turo, since galing ako sa ganung background (sa Networks ha, hindi sa barubal na background).

Anyway, i-o-observe ko pa din naman ang mga next classes. Bigyan ko kayo ng feedback.

Baka naman there's a way to submit a feedback sa school mismo para habang nasa class kayo ay magkaroon ng changes?

O baka pwede ring i-submit mismo ang feedback sa NZ government who supervises schools like these?

Naalala ko tuloy yung naging issue sa mga dating schools. Basahin ninyo rito. Baka magaya lang din sila sa mga nasa list.

Naging non-compliant sila sa:
1. Minimum hours of study in a week
2. Attendance records
3. Fees

Siguro compliant yung mga schools ninyo sa tatlong ito pero mukhang hindi masyado name-measure yung quality of education kaya patuloy pa rin yung pagpapatakbo nila.

Palagay ko kasi mahirap ding ma-measure yung quality of education kaya hindi tinututukan masyado yung pagtuturo. Dapat siguro ginagawa ng NZ merong random and unscheduled class observation. Haha masaya yun.

O kaya naman humingi ng survey from students directly.

Guys, may helpful website akong nakita which provides a very useful tool in finding a school based sa course you're interested in. Yung level, fees and everything you need to know about the course are all there, i-specify nyo lang yung area of study and it will provide you all the schools na pwedeng pagpilian. hello dinoette.. IT din ako sa NTEC pero Networking sa ngayon okay naman ako sa kanila.
Nagkukuwento nga ako kay nekou (roomate kami) haha na wala naman ako problema sa mga tutors.
Siguro iba kasi sa inyo sa software. 4 yung tutors namin lahat naman sila maayos ang pagtuturo.
Yung isa almost 20yrs experienced yung isa 12yrs ata yung isa naman Hiring Manager ng Vodafone. Pero yung huli fresh grad.
yung tanong mo zia na availability of jobs na malapit sa school e tiyaga2 nalang siguro sa paghahanap.

Yes, as I have said earlier, di maayos ang pagtuturo ng Software Development Level 7 ng IT. Meron naman nagtuturo nang maayos, yun nga lang minor subjects (or more like additional subjects not written on the curriculum). Isang lecturer lang na aappreciate ko so far na nagtuturo ng main subject/class. Filipina siya ang whenever we ask questions, she's doing her best to answer us. Anyway, class na kami. Hahaha

I just interviewed a person who was working in one of the private schools here promoting the school internationally. He did it for 15 years and shared with me his honest feedback about the system. I just need to summarize the highlights and will post them later tonight or tomorrow. I hope it gives some guidance to those who are still in the process of planning.
