let's post here kung may mga tanong tayo about part time jobs, mauna na ako.
ok lang ba kung ang part time job is not related to the course we're taking? of course ideal kung related but what if ang makuha mo is not?

Yes okay lang lnce. As much as possible, target related jobs pero kung walang available, okay lang ang non-related. I have a friend who recently got their resident visa. He took Business Management in Cornell Institute and worked part time in Dunkin Donuts as a staff. After finishing his Diploma, he moved to Christchurch and worked as a regional sales rep for a cosmetics company. Doon niya nakuha residency niya.

I have few friends who are here on student visa (Cornell and IANZ). madami silang part time jobs. ung isang job nung isa related sa course nya pero yung iba hindi. madami din cash jobs though mababa ung rate pero katwiran nila sayang din ung kikitain while on school holiday. di naman required na related ung part time jobs nila. yung isang housemate ko actually may job offer na for a Managerial position pero sa April pa matatapos ung studies nya so hopefully andun pa ung offer by that time na matapos sya. balitaan ko kayo sa job hunt nila pag tapos na sila. may friend din ako padating dito as student. bibisita ung wife nya under visitor visa at mag try magjobhunt here. update ko lang ung story nila sa mga related posts across the forum

Hi eyrene!

Hi! Just want to ask po if requirement ang IELTS sa paghahanap ng part time/full time work? I'll be arriving in Napier on Feb. 11 via student visa. Na-accept po kasi ako sa EIT even without IELTS, I just presented certification of english as medium of instruction. I'll be taking Grad Diploma in Professional Accounting po.

Can I ask again, about naman po sa Tertiary Students Work Rights since nabasa ko we can work part-time for up to 20 hours per week and it was clear naman po. Pero yung iniisip ko sabi ng agency for students it is enough for us to earn around 13NZD per hour, what I really want to ask is may limit po ba ang expected salary range in my case? What should I choose na salary range if ever? I just wanted to be prepared narin Thank you po. God Bless

You also need to format your CV na kiwi-style. I think sa NTEC tuturuan ka naman during orientation. The truth is that youth and students are among the most exploited labor force groups here in NZ. You will probably be lucky to get a job kaagad that pays you the minimum wage. Yung mga part time jobs not so much yun advertised sa seek pero word of mouth or mga forums/fb pages or sites like gumtree. These are jobs na housekeeping, kitchen help, waiting, shop staff (e.g. dairies) etc. On the other hand may mga legitimate naman din na part time jobs na swak pa sa linya na inaaral mo. Example dito yung mga nurses and nasa health management courses tsaka yung sa hospitality work - hotels etc. Maghanda ka lang for both. Maghanda ka rin ng enough budget for at least 2 or 3 months na wala ka pa work. I have met mga students dito na ilang buwan naghahanap ng work kasi namimili and hindi madali. Maiintindihan mo yan pagdating mo dito. Sent from my GT-I9505 using proboards

Kahit IT ung kukunin kong course sa tertiary I'm willing naman po to work as a shop staff etc kung hindi palarin sa IT company, thanks po for giving me ideas po.

jasonc if you don't get a paid part time IT job right away, maigi magvolunteer or mag intern ka sa isang IT company or any company na may IT related internship. This may be an unpaid job but that way you can build your CV with an IT related work experience. Andami mga job hunters dito sa IT field. Kahit may mga experience na ilang years ay hirap din makakuha ng work. Mga kakumpetensiya sa trabaho dito ay locals (citizens), resident visa holders, silver fern visa holders, work holiday visa holders and students. Don't be complacent. jasonc Hi jasonc! Parang parehas tayo kasi I'm also a fresh grad and took the risk of applying for a student visa (Business Management Level 7). I'm just waiting for my interview. Gusto ko lang rin maging prepared. Did you include, or do you have OJT experiences? And if you do, did you still include it in your CV? Ako kasi, meron. Pero di ko alam if icoconsider nila.

Hi @nadine0214 I had this job, sales related which is hindi pang IT pero okay lang bka sa future may IT naman, kaya pansamantala to. Kasi dito pala sa NZ, palakasan talaga ng loob kasi kung titignan mo lang yung mga jobs nila akala mo hindi mo kaya, pero pag ginawa mo na kahit fresh grad ako, gulat ako kaya ko pala, and sa first day ng job ko nagulat din ako parang I tried to act lang naman na mataas loob ko pero it turns out na naging natural nalang na matatag ako haha. You need to trust yourself here tapos tatanggalin mo yung mindset na limited ang skills mo. Ayun lang po matitip ko about part-time jobs, since Business Management ka, maraming Sales related job dito na related dyan, either Sales like literal na magbebenta ng products with stalls sa mga malls or markets like what I'm doing right now and meron atang Sales na iba naman ginagawa haha. Pag andito ka na, magplan ka for your pansamantagal na titirhan, go to your school pra magreport na andito ka na, get IRD(parang BIR nila dito) then most important, get SIM Card from school or buy your own kung ayaw mo ng sim nila, top up and pick a and Pa appointment ka ng bank account. Other information malalaman mo na pagdating mo dito. Yung sa CV naman meron silang sariling format na mas prefer nila, search mo nalang sa internet or dito sa pinoykiwi yung mga links nila then I consider my OJT experiences as part of my "Work Experience" kasi wala lang, parang feeling ko halos work na rin yun haha wala namang kaso yun kahit ilagay mo, tsaka mo nalang sabihin na internship yun pag nagtanong kung anong type ng job ba tawag dun. Consider naman yun don't worry(para sakin ah haha, wala naman akong narinig na negative about it kapag i-include yun).

@nadine0214 pa-take note pala ng mga sinabi ko, it could help you once na makalapag ka dito sa NZ, picture-an mo haha. Pero I'm not saying na mag-rely ka sa story ko lang, marami pang stories dyan na mas informative, just don't get tired on reading kahit kapag andito ka na, pinoykiwi will always be a help and also learn from personal experiences na rin pag andito ka na. Good luck!

Pero okay lang masayang experience naman as an I.T. Wala akong naging back-up plan haha kaya mahalaga talaga na meron kang malaking budget yung pang 1 year na budget para sure haha. Don't worry too much. Set a goal na rin for your future plans and don't forget to bring your malaking kalendaryo for goal settings hahaha joke. Good luck po!

mlm yung kwento ng isang student.. kapag daw you paid your tuition na may discount, may mga services na di mo ma avail... like yung jobsearch assistance pero after grad na job yata yun.
